CAT PHOTOGRAPHY

Cat sessions are definitely different from dog sessions. I could be waiting 30 minutes for a kitty to come out or I could be greeted with a leg rub, I’ve seen it all. The beauty of a WYTP experience is that I get it. Whatever the unique personality traits of your kitty, I’ve likely seen and handled it before. And in addition to being patient, I have lenses that work from far away, so if your feline friend is shy, I can keep my distance and still get incredibly beautiful photos. Humans are of course more than welcome to join the pawty!

When you’re the lucky companion of a cat, you cherish their dedication to you, because it’s not always readily given. Your cat is your equal, maybe superior, amiright? Cats can be just as loving and cuddly as a dog, but others are far more independent and selective with how they relay their affection. Cat shoots are usually very different than dog photo shoots. They have their own unique challenges. And sometimes, cat people are hesitant to schedule a session, because they think “my cat’s deefinitely not going to cooperate”. But I think you’ll be pleasantly surprised when you get your photos back.

Why Should You Hire a Professional Cat Photographer?

I definitely see a lower percentage of cat clients, and that makes me sad. Your cat should be celebrated just like its K-9 counterpart. Here are my top 3 reasons why you should consider a professional photo shoot for your kitty.

(1) Yes, you have a bazillion photos of your furbaby on your cell phone. But, have you ever spent an entire hour photographing your cat? Maybe, but likely no, right? Well, having a full hour helps me capture all those adorable and unique personality traits and expressions that only your kitty has.  I spent at least an hour with you and your cat, and its within those moments that I am able to capture the full spectrum that is your best friend.  Most sessions I have a hard time putting my camera down at the end, because I just love what I do so much!  I’m constantly laughing and aww’ing at all the adorableness I’ve captured during these sessions, and my clients do the same when they get their images.

(2) It’s totes fun!  Some people envision a professional pet photo session to be stressful and hectic.  A cat photo session with me is the total opposite. We will have fun during our session, I promise! I love getting to play and interact with the cats I photograph (if they’ll let me).  We’ll bring out the toys, treats and lots of play-time that make the session feel like just a good time.  My goal is to capture the joy and personality of your cat, and the experience of the shoot itself is crucial to that end.  I’m easy-going and patient, and I’ve done this 100s of times, so I have a game-plan that helps make the session a rousing success. Also, I always bring my assistant/doggie-whisperer/husband, John, along to help.  He stands behind me making bird sounds or waiving a treat to get the cat’s attention.  That way you can be part of the shoot as well, and you don’t have to stress about your kitty not cooperating.

(3) No matter how long we have with our furbabies, it’s never long enough.  Our cats are our family, and the hardest part of having them in our lives is having to say goodbye. John and I know this pain all to well having lost our Newton and Maya in the last 2 years. You can celebrate your cat by documenting your bond and capturing them in all their glory with photos that last forever.
